Susan Wood, recently retired
assistant commissioner of women's health at the Food and Drug Administration, shares in a Washington Post op.ed
her concerns that our federal health agencies seem increasingly unable to operate independently and that this lack of independence compromises their mission of promoting public health and welfare. The most recent example is how the FDA is being manipulated to restrict access by adults to contraception.

wrote a great editorial about the consequences of enacting an anti-Gay marriage amendment to the Idaho Constitution. It apparently had no bearing on the vast majority of legislators, who decided to put this to a vote on the November ballot. Whether most voters will heed the warning, history certainly demonstrates that future generations will be embarrassed by this action if it passes.
